Ligue 1 is a league of young players, quick counter-attacks and one club with far more money than the rest. Paris Saint-Germain have won most of the recent titles, and their games produce some of the shortest odds in Europe. The rest of the league is much more even, and that's where most of our tips come from.
How Ligue 1 works
Since 2023-24 there have been 18 clubs instead of 20, so each team plays 34 games. The bottom two go down and 16th plays off against a Ligue 2 side. Fewer games means less time to recover from a bad run, so the relegation fight often starts early.
What we look at
- Selling clubs. French clubs sell their best players more than any other big league. A side that looked strong last season can be a different team after the summer or the January window.
- Tight, physical games. Fixtures in the bottom half are often scrappy. We lean on double chance there.
- PSG games. A PSG win can be priced at 1.15 or less. We only tip it when the line-up and the opponent make sense, and sometimes we look at goals instead.
- European weeks. As in every league, clubs coming back from a midweek European away game are more likely to drop points.
The odds we take
Most picks on this page sit between 1.15 and 1.45. That isn't exciting, but a run of short-priced, carefully chosen tips is how you stay ahead over a season. If you'd like a single pick for the day, see banker bets of the day. If you want more goals, try over 1.5.
