Como’s remarkable run
Como have taken to the Champions League quickly. They beat RB Leipzig 4-1 on their debut, lost a close one 3-2 in Rotterdam against Feyenoord, then hammered Manchester United 4-1 at home. Anastasios Douvikas has three goals in the competition already.
Their league form is just as good. Since the Feyenoord defeat they’ve won five straight: 3-1 at Fiorentina, 4-1 against United, 2-0 against Sassuolo, 3-1 at Torino and 1-0 against Venezia on Sunday. That’s 13 goals scored and three conceded in five games.
Lens: fine in France, stuck in Europe
Lens started well, coming from Prague with a 3-2 win at Slavia, but they’ve since lost 2-0 at home to Sporting CP and 3-0 at Club Brugge without scoring.
In Ligue 1 they’re more solid. They’ve beaten Lyon 2-1, Troyes 3-1 and Paris FC 2-1, though they lost 1-0 at Lille on Friday. At home they’re a tougher prospect, and the Bollaert crowd is one of the loudest in France, so Como won’t have it all their own way.
